A Home Office spokesperson said:

Background:
- Our work with international partners has helped to dismantle 82 organised crime groups since July 2020.
- We are working upstream with international partners, clamping down on the criminal gangs with stepped-up enforcement, and working with the French to prevent more crossings.
- French police are facing increasing violence and disruption on their beaches as they work tirelessly to prevent crossings. Last year they prevented over 26,000 of these dangerous, illegal and unnecessary crossing attempts.
