Today’s media coverage of interest to the Home Office includes the National Firearms Surrender, co-ordinated by the National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS).
National Firearms Surrender
BBC News, as well as a number of newspapers, run pieces on the National Firearms Surrender, which is running from today until 26 November. The police are asking the public to hand in any unlicensed or unwanted firearms to help take weapons out of circulation. People who hand in weapons will not be required to give their name or address.
In 2015, when the last firearms surrender was run, more than 6000 items were handed in. More information is on the NABIS website.
