The Security and Economic Crime Minister, Ben Wallace, has welcomed the NCA's announcement that it has successfully secured the first two unexplained wealth orders (UWOs) granted since their introduction in January. The NCA will use these orders to investigate assets totalling £22m.
Security and Economic Crime Minister, Ben Wallace, said:
I am delighted that the NCA have secured two of the new unexplained wealth orders to investigate £22m worth of suspected criminal assets.
These new powers introduced by the Government through the Criminal Finances Act will allow us to go after serious criminals' money and make sure crime doesn’t pay.
