Response to Mail on Sunday story on Channel migrants

UK border

The Mail on Sunday has today published inaccurate claims in a story on migrants crossing the Channel.

The paper claims that we’re underestimating the number of migrants crossing – this is completely untrue.

We’re completely transparent and provide figures on a near daily basis.

We also do not use prisons to house migrants and there are no plans to do so.

Those who make the perilous journey are medically checked, interviewed by immigration officers and then held in immigration detention.
