Today's news coverage includes reports that the Metropolitan Police has requested further funding for its investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Operation Grange

The Telegraph, Express, Mirror, Sun and Star report that the Metropolitan Police has requested further funding from the Home Office so that it can continue Operation Grange – the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. The papers note that over £11 million has already been spent on the investigation but its current funding is set to expire at the end of September.

The Home Office is currently considering an application from the Metropolitan Police for further Special Grant funding for Operation Grange. Our statement is below.

A Home Office spokesperson said:

The Home Office has provided funding to the Metropolitan Police for Operation Grange and the resources required are reviewed regularly with careful consideration given before any new funding is allocated.
